Inspired by a family favorite podcast: SMASH, BOOM, BEST! We pick sides and debate which is best.
"Character may almost be called the most effective means of persuasion." -Aristotle
We pick two things to compare in a debate such as winter verses summer. Each side prepares three parts and the judge gives a point for the winner of each round. It is more simplified than the podcast, but it has similar features.

Rhetoric
The word "rhetoric" comes from Greek and means “the art of speech or of a speaker.”
In Rome, in the first century AD, Quintilian wrote that famous definition of rhetoric as “the art of a good man speaking well.”
This original sense connotes:
An appreciation of the true, the good, and the beautiful
The ability to speak eloquently and persuasively
A virtuous character
Ethos is how your character as a speaker or writer affects the audience. Expert Opinions. Why should someone take your word for it?
Pathos is how emotion plays a role in speech and arguments. Emotional Hook. What appeals to our hearts?
Logos is how you structure an argument and the use of logic. Facts. What appeals to our minds?
Yea, behold, I will tell you in your mind and in your heart, by the Holy Ghost, which shall come upon you and which shall dwell in your heart. Now, behold, this is the spirit of revelation... -Doctrine and Covenants 8:2-3
