Over the weekend our basement trim was put in. We reorganized the bookshelves since they had to be moved. Here is our learning space updated.

This week we did all we could at the beginning, then due to a surgery and hospital stay, we had flexibility. We are grateful for friends and family support.

Math testing became a coveted thing on Study Island.

Our week of Switzerland

Orchestra began with five new pieces.

We had science labs with yeast balloons.

Nature journaling bulbs, corms, rhizomes and tubers.

Cole and Caroline did architecture and building.

I studied poetry and planned our garden.

Some take aways from poetry...

  1. Focus on delight

  2. Create personal anthology

  3. Use I notice, I wonder and it reminds me prompts to discuss and create poetry

  4. Starting and ending the day with a poem can help make sweet memories

  5. Poetry is processed on the right side of the brain

  6. Seek love of poetry over knowledge of week-known poems

  7. "You will find poetry nowhere unless you bring some joy with you." - Joubert

  8. "When you grow sensitive to the beauty of language you become, in some small degree at least, capable of using it yourself." - Kate Douglas Wiggins

  9. "Poetry represents the deepest most vital truth in the most beautiful and lasting forms. It is not an unreal thing, it is the very soul of reality." -Hamilton Wright Mabie
